so my girl introduced me to this spot a few months ago and we come atleast 2-3x a month lol , the food here is always a hit the carne en su jugo is so fire I have never had any like this one before but yet again this place that she introduced me to was the first time I even tried carne en su jugo but either way it is a 20/10 ! The service is quick but don't let this place fool you they do get packed and for being a small establishment you might catch yourself waiting a good 15-20 min after you order to get your food but if it's not busy just know you'll be sitting down with your food in front of you within 5-10 min after ordering the ambience is nice they have music always playing on the tv whether it's cumbia music or any of your old traditional Mexican music , they also have a location in Fontana which I barely found out today so if your ever in the area this place is a MUST TRY location I promise you won't regret it and the tacos de birria are also a 20/10 I get chivo my girl gets the birria de res both are a hit ! Also the carne en su jugo is good how it comes already but if you feeling a little extra hungry for like 3-4$ you can add Extra meat and bacon and I promise it's worth it !

Excellent customer service. With regard to the food, it's the Quesabirria Taco then everything else. The Quesabirria was 5/5 and I would get those again in a heartbeat. The other tacos were just ok. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because once you get the Quesabirria nothing else compares. Overall I would give this a 4/5 and tell you what o come for the Quesabirria tacos. And in case I haven't said it enough..... Quesabirria! Quesabirria! Quesabirria!

YUM! Hit here pretty late at night with my friend wanting some tacos. We got the birria tacos with consume and cheese and they were just amazing: shells were crispy but not crunchy (in a good, perfect middle ground way), cheese pull was perfect, juicy and everything. My only complaint would be that it's a bit pricy and service was not amazing but that's okay!. I personally wouldn't come back here out of my way to get tacos again but if I were in the area sometime and wanted tacos I'd consider a revisit, because it's undeniable that these tacos were bomb just not sure if they were worth it.

Stopped by for dinner. Got an el pastor burrito with no beans, bunch of birria tacos, and a side of consume. My husband said the burrito was on the salty end and had too much rice. The tacos were bomb though, especially dipped in the consume. They also have sides of onions and radish that compliment the food well. The two salsas were alright, liked the red one better than the green. Would come back for the birria tacos!

I hadn't been to this structure since the 1980s back then it was a little restaurant. I forgot the name of it but now it's named Alex tacos. The place is not all that I remember. They have tables to sit down and enjoy your meal. The place has been remodeled. I had heard of Alex's tacos but never stopped by until this morning. I'm glad I did. We had a breakfast burrito that consisted of bacon, beans, eggs and i had a plate of birria two Fried eggs ,beans, and rice with flour tortillas. We also had a Horchata and a pineapple drink. The food was delicious. The breakfast burrito was fairly good size despite of not having potatoes, they were out of potatoes. The service was courteous and friendly and we had our breakfast in no time. The horchata was really good. This is a cozy little restaurant. We have a come back to try Alex's hard shell tacos. I hear they're really good. There's plenty of parking with a handicap stall by the front entrance

Most of the time when choosing to go out to eat, I usually end up choosing an Asian place as I like to stick to the cards I know. But being in the Greater LA area for about a year and a half, I wanted to try more Mexican food and support more local businesses. I asked a few friends for some good spots in the Pomona area and was recommended to try Alex's Tacos just outside of downtown. I stopped by with some friends on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30PM....and got lost a few times. Although the storefront on Mission is a bright red and yellow brick building, many trees blocking the way made it very easy to miss. Furthermore, the entrance to the parking lot was about one car wide and only had about 8 parking spaces. The compact nature could apply to the restaurant itself too. With no distinct entrance, you could easily infer the restaurant was closed. And even after finding the entrance at the back side, the inside of the place was small and narrow with about 5 booths of seating space and a single ordering counter; perfect definition of a hole-in-the-wall place. Though the place was small, there was quite a crowd lined up for the entire time I spent here. Definitely a popular place to grab a bite! I wasn't exactly sure what to order because I'm not too familiar with Mexican food, so my friend recommended me to order a Carne en su Jugo for 14 dollars. And to my understanding, it seemed to be a soup made from a cilantro base that contains ground pork, caramelized onions, pinto beans, bacon, diced white onions, cilantro, and a few tortillas on the side. We took a seat inside and later picked up our order about 10 minutes later. The bowl of soup had a rustic gold color to it with most of the ground pork floating on the surface. And though at first I wasn't sure if there was much inside the small bowl, I was later surprised to see most of the ingredients inside were meat. I left the meal more than full, which to me says price to portion was good. And though 14 dollars is borderline pricey for the Pomona area, it is quite cheap compared to other options in Chino Hills and Walnut nearby. The bowl of soup was unique to anything I've ever had before. But for the most part, it was delicious and I would certainly love to have another. Beginning with the tortillas, each one was fresh, lean, and floury. But they didn't really contribute much to the soup. The broth of the soup had a medium viscosity provided from the thin layer of fat on the surface which made it taste defined and ultimately umami. But at the same time, the flavor profile was somewhat citrusy and soapy which made the broth taste light. The bacon tasted just like you'd imagine. But mixed in with the cilantro flavor, the heaviness of the pork was balanced out. The rest of the ingredients tasted like the broth and even blended in with it. But out of all of the ingredients, the caramelized onions stood out the most as their added sweetness made the soup taste somewhat minty. From my first experience having some Mexican eats in awhile, I enjoyed my food! Though the flavor profile was a bit different than what I would typically eat, it was not bad at all! And because it was at a decent price point for a bowl of soup with plenty of ingredients, I would give Alex's Tacos four stars out of five. Though I had a bowl of soup at a place probably known for their tacos, I'll be happy to come back for other items at this hole-in-the-wall spot! Great food, guys!

I was heavily deciding between choosing a 4 or 5 star for this place but their customer service definitely brings it up to a 5. When they were making our order, they took maybe 5 minutes longer on my order and immediately offered us a drink while waiting, so got to try their Horchata free of charge as well so much appreciated to them and thank you very much for the drink! Going back to the food, I got to try their Carne Asada Burrito and their Al pastor taco. I would say these were a solid 8/10. They were delicious and definitely had a lot of flavor, but were just a bit too dry for me. However, when using the salsa with it, it definitely made the meats a lot more palatable and enjoyable. My personal preference would be their Asada, but to each their own. My personal favorite from all of this though was their horchata. It definitely is on the sweeter side, but if you have a sweet tooth like me, this will surely be a great drink to try while there. Overall, will definitely want to check out this place again and try their different types of meat, as well as get their horchata again haha.
